September 2020 Calcurate 17 Version 8.1a (released 8th September 2020)

The new version (8.1a) fixes some issues that were affected by the addition of year six.  The issues are now resolved

  • The “Import from Analyse” feature was failing on certain Analyse records – now fixed
  • Supporting Small Business Relief was incorrect on the Advanced calculator – now fixed
  • The “Search VOA Website” was failing due to changes to the VOA searchpage – the functionality is now improved, but can still occasionally fail due to the nature of the interaction between Calcurate and an external web location.

August 2020 Calcurate 17 Version 8.0 (released 8th August 2020)

The new version (8.0) now has the additional year 2022/23 added to all calculators.

The 2017 list was originally intended to last five years so the Transitional Arrangements for the first five years were set out in the regulations, however as there are no details for year six Calcurate will assume no Transitional Arrangements will apply in 2022/23.

In the previous Calcurate release, Retail Discount and Pub Relief schemes were included for 2021, however, as there has been no announcement for 2021, the default for 2021 and 2022 has now been set to no Retail Discount or Pub Relief. This can be temporarily changed using the “settings” button to show the effect of different rates of relief and thresholds.

The Portfolio Calculator (Scheduliser) has also been updated with the extra year.

The new release can be downloaded from the link in your most recent “update” email.

May 2020 Calcurate 17 Version 7.3 (released 25th May 2020)

Following the postponement of the 2021 business rates revaluation, Calcurate has now been updated to add the year 2021/22 to the 2017 England and Wales packages (Scotland is not affected).  The new release (version 7.3 for England and W4.0 for Wales) has the additional year of the 2017 list added to all calculators.

In version 7.3 Retail Discount (England) for 2021 has been set to the “standard” of one third discount for RV’s below 51,000 , however, a “settings” button has been added to allow you to set your own discount rate and threshold.

In the Welsh calculator the High Street Relief scheme for 2021 is assumed to be the same as 2019.

The Portfolio Calculator (Scheduliser) has also been updated with the extra year.

The new release can be downloaded from the link in your most recent “update” email.
